Skip counting in 2's
I am learning to skip count in 2's. I had to put a counter on top of the 2's pattern. I know how to skip count in 2's. I had use some different colours because the red's ran out and I could keep counting in 2's all the way to 100! This was easy to put the counters on each number. I am proud of myself for doing them all correct.

Recognising contractions
I am learning to recognise contractions. I needed to circle the words with the apostrophe because they were contractions. "Don't" is short for do not. This is easy for me. I am proud because I could do it myself.

Acrostic poem
We are learning to write an acrostic poem. We wrote about spring. It can be tricky to spell words. We enjoyed writing something for each letter. We had to think of a word that started with S, P, R, I, N, G and we had to start our sentence with this letter.
Mrs Bovill typed the stories for us and we helped her publish them. We got to choose a colour for the capital letters, the font and we helped choose the size so our page was full. Our poems look awesome!
We are so proud because Mrs Bovill thinks they are fabulous and we wrote great stories. We are proud because we are poets.
“I like writing acrostic peoms because they spelt spring going down the page.” Matthew.
Spring blossoms
Look at our spring blossoms! First we drew the branch going across the page. We coloured our branches using pastel. We made the blossoms by scrunching up tissue paper and gluing them onto our trees. We then made a little bee or butterfly to go on our picture. We sketched our picture and then drew it on our plastic film. Mrs Bovill then cut them out and we glued them onto our picture.

Using our word of the week and writing about community
I am learning to use the word ‘said’ in my writing. We are learning about community too, so ‘The Bee Lady’ came to visit us. I am so proud of my story. They look lovely, cute cool and super. It can be tricky to spell words like ‘bee’ and to type the words on the computers. The next step for me might be to try again so I can do it quicker.
I had to find a picture of a bee and I had to write about the bee. The bee lady visited us to tell us about bees and their community. I liked typing my story, I feel proud.

Writing for a purpose
We published our story. Our story was about mum. Mum was our word of the week and it was going to be mothers day. We wrote our story so Mum could read it. We have been learning that we write for a purpose. The purpose of our story was to tell Mum something we like about her.
"I am publishing my story so mum can read it. It is tricky to write a long story. I like writing my stories for mum and dad."
Root words and their endings
I had to circle the root word and then I had to circle the ending. It was easy for me because we just had to circle the front word and then the ending. ‘Clean’ is the root word and ‘ing’ is the ending. Other endings are ‘ed’, ‘ing’ and ‘s’.

Before and after numbers
"It is sometimes easy when I can look at the number and then point at it. I am pointing to the number 13. This is before number 14" - Matthew
Writing our word of the week
I
am learning to use the word of the week in my story writing. I had to use the
word see in my story. It is tricky to write words. I can use my word card to
help me. I can try and sound out my letters. I am proud when I write my words.
I am proud when I find the word I need on my word card. I am proud of my
picture I did on Kid Pix.
"I saw people with the hammers. The word is pink because it was the word of the week. It is easy when I do my picture and when I find the words on my word card. It is tricky to spell words that are not on my word card" - Matthew

Using illustrations to help me read
I am
learning to use the illustrations to help me read. Illustrations help me read
tricky words. I can look at the pictures and find words that match the sounds
of the letters I can hear and see. Pictures give me clues when I am reading.
They help me know what the story is about. I can talk about the pictures.
"It is tricky to read some tricky words. The pictures help me to read. It is easy to see the writing and read the words. I am proud of reading books by myself." - Matthew
